TRIFIC SEZ (Two Rivers International Finance and Innovation Centre Special Economic Zone) is Kenya’s first privately developed SEZ dedicated exclusively to services, a sharp departure from the manufacturing-led model of traditional economic zones. Located within Nairobi’s diplomatic and commercial corridor, TRIFIC is backed by Centum Investment Company and forms part of the government’s wider push to reorient the country’s exports around knowledge-based and innovation-driven sectors. The zone offers a competitive edge through robust fiscal incentives, including:
  • 0% tax on foreign-sourced income
  • 10% corporate tax on domestic income for 10 years
  • Zero VAT, capital gains, and stamp duty
  • Fast-tracked regulatory approvals through a single-window investor platform
It also boasts world-class infrastructure, ESG-aligned compliance support, and round-the-clock business services, creating an ideal launchpad for regional and global firms seeking a presence in East Africa. Mwau brings over seven years of experience at the intersection of business development, digital innovation, and impact-driven enterprise. He previously led the Ajiry platform, a Mastercard Foundation-funded youth employment initiative that raised over USD 2.19 million and reached more than 1 million young people across Kenya. His corporate background also includes leadership roles in cybersecurity and real estate, including a successful tenure at Scraj Homes where he helped grow the firm’s asset base from Ksh 700 million to Ksh 1.59 billion. With his track record in scaling ventures and unlocking capital, Mwau’s appointment is widely viewed as a catalyst for TRIFIC SEZ’s next phase — anchoring Kenya’s ambitions to become a continental leader in high-value service exports.
